Muktinath – Guruji Sundar’s trip down the memory lane.

19/September/2009 – Saturday

I with my fellow disciples reached Muktinath temple by Jeep.

The day we visited Muktinath was a special day in a calendar year. It is Mahalaya Amavasya day. So, the whole temple was overcrowded with pilgrims offering to their ancestor’s srartham.

There was a long queue in front of the temple. So, I went to nearby stream and took bath with my team. After everyone had left the temple, I went inside the temple. But I could not pray, the reason behind it was that the whole temple complex is littered with the junk leftovers of all the pilgrims ;who came to do the srartham for their ancestors.

Then I applied my mind and acquired broom stick from the temple priest and started cleaning the temple. I t took about 2 hours to clean the temple. In the mean time the monks in the temple offered us tea and asked us to stay for the night. But we had a flight to catch next morning. So we declined the offer. AFter cleaning the whole mess, I once again re-entered the temple. The temple priests started offering many gifts to us.

The highlight of the day is that, we were the last ones to leave the temple. On the verge of leaving the temple, the security in charge called me and prsented one Big Saligramam shaped like Ganesha.

It was a precious gift to us, when we trekked our way to the jeep terminal, we say most of the pilgrims waiting for their turn to leave from Mukthinath. We thought it is going to be a long wait for us. But with the almighty compassion we suddenly heard our names being called out from loud speakers to board the jeep.

Every one who were waiting for a long time looked at us with respect, they thought we must be some VIP.

PS: The security in charge asked for our name and when we were leaving the temple and immediately ordered the security officer in the terminal to allot us immediate seats. Since we have done so much clean up work in the temple, it touched his heart and his compassion made him to the special gift plus our VIP treatment at the Jeep terminal.

PS: The temple was very small but its keerthi is very vast. Near the temple one tibetian saint ‘RINPOCHE’ (padmasambhava) temle is also there. We visited the temple also.

The whole mukthinath temple trip still remains very memorable in our hearts, my heart aches to revisit the temple again and again.

But it is almost 7 years since we visited the temple. But Mahalaya amavasya every year brings back the memories of our mukthinath trip.

This day 12/Oct/2015 also is the great Mahalaya Amavasya day. Today I am writing this and going back on my memory lane.

I am doing puja and abishekham to the Ganesha Saligramam every day.
